Jefferson Lab retains JDG to conduct 2 high profile searches
JDG Associates, Executive Search Consultants, has been retained by Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) to fill two leadership roles as the Lab enters an exciting period of mission growth. Jefferson Lab, located in Newport News, VA, is a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory dedicated to solving some of the most challenging scientific and engineering problems in nuclear physics and applied science and technology.
The first role is Associate Laboratory Director, Energy & Applied Science & Technology (ALD, EAST), a member of the Lab’s Tier 1 leadership team reporting to the Deputy Lab Director for Science and Technology/Chief Research Officer. This outward-facing role provides strategic and operational leadership for the EAST Directorate, with a focus on cultivating new sponsor relationships and expanding programs across DOE Office of Science (BES, NE), DoD, NNSA, NASA, and industry. Ideal candidates bring 15-20 years of internationally recognized experience, including 5+ years leading large, complex, multidisciplinary research programs or user facilities, along with a track record of growing programs across a broad sponsor base.
The second role is Project Director, High Performance Data Facility (HPDF), who will lead the HPDF team from initial concept through completion, coordinating closely with Jefferson Lab, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, technical teams, computer vendors, and construction managers on a facility encompassing computational systems, data storage, software, and conventional facilities elements. Ideal candidates bring 15+ years leading teams on highly complex technical objectives, including 5+ years managing technical projects of $10 million or more, along with experience managing research computing projects within the DOE laboratory system.
