JDG completes search for ORNL’s Associate Lab Director for Energy Science and Technology

The Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory and JDG are pleased to announce Dr. Robert Wagner as Associate Laboratory Director for the Energy Science and Technology Directorate, effective February 1. Dr. Wagner has over 23 years of visionary leadership experience primarily at ORNL. He brings a wealth of knowledge and decades of hands-on facility experience, relationships, and operational strengths. In his current role, he leads strategic growth of two DOE user facilities, the National Transportation Research Center and the Building Technologies Research and Integration Center. He also leads and develops strategic, collaborative relationships with other national laboratories, colleges and universities, other research institutions, and private industry that align with the division research priorities on decarbonization. He was also on the leadership team and a founding member of the DOE initiative on the Co-Optimization of Fuels and Engines. This initiative brought together the expertise of more than 200 researchers across nine national laboratories, 20 universities, and the DOE Vehicle Technologies Office and Bioenergy Technologies Office. Dr. Wagner earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
