HHS Office of Inspector General retains JDG to recruit Deputy Inspector General for Audit Services

JDG Associates, Executive Search Consultants, has been retained by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG) to find a seasoned audit executive to serve as their Deputy Inspector General for Audit Services (DIGAS). Located in Washington, DC, HHS OIG is the largest inspector general’s office in the federal government and leads the nation’s efforts to fight fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid, and more than 100 other HHS programs. The DIGAS, a career SES position reporting to the Principal Deputy Inspector General, serves as OIG’s principal auditor. The DIGAS leads the Office of Audit Services, the largest civilian audit agency in the executive branch, with close to 500 staff and five SES Assistant Inspectors General. Keys to success in this role include:

  • Executive experience leading a nationwide oversight strategy for a large audit organization, using advanced data analytics to identify systemic risks in complex federal programs.
  • A track record of leading organizational transformation and advising cabinet-level executives and congressional committees.
  • Expert knowledge of Government Auditing Standards, the Single Audit Act, and OMB guidance. A CPA is a plus.
