JDG completes search for PBGC’s General Counsel

JDG and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation are pleased to announce the selection of Russ Dempsey as its new General Counsel. He brings twenty years of experience leading diverse teams and individually contributing legal expertise as it pertains to the financial services/retirement industry. As the Associate General Counsel of AIG and previously as the Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for United Retirement Plan Consultants, responsibilities have included leading operations and management of staff in excess of 300 FTEs, an annual budget of $14M, and providing counsel on: ERISA, retirement plan design and administration, retirement plan issues related to plan terminations and bankruptcy filings, regulatory matters related to DOL, IRS, PBGC, FINRA, SEC and other regulators, litigation, privacy and data security, regulatory and commercial compliance, regulated products and services, insurance, labor and employment, intellectual property, and corporate governance. He has an LL.M. in Taxation.
