IDA retains JDG to conduct search for its Vice President of Corporate Operations

JDG Associates, Executive Search Consultants, has been retained by the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) to find a seasoned operational and business transformation leader to serve as their Vice President of Corporate Operations. Based in Alexandria, VA, IDA is a nonprofit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) on behalf of the U.S. government, providing objective, data-driven analyses on the nation’s most complex security and science policy challenges for 70 years.

The VP of Corporate Operations, an officer of the corporation and member of IDA’s senior leadership team, will modernize systems, processes, and service delivery across the organization to reduce indirect costs, strengthen operational resilience, positioning IDA for continued growth. The role calls for a change agent who can challenge legacy practices, lead enterprise-wide initiatives, leverage emerging technology including AI, and build a culture of continuous improvement while maintaining compliance and operational excellence. Keys to success in this role include:

• 12-15+ years of experience in nonprofit (including university), commercial, or government institutions, including 8 years of increasing managerial responsibility; 20+ years of experience in corporate operations is highly desirable.
• Business transformation experience, including the ability to analyze current state operations and design future state models, with cross functional experience in IT, security, communications, and HR sufficient to implement processes and policies that reduce indirect costs and manage organizational risk.
• Some experience managing IT, facilities, real estate, corporate operations, and/or HR along with prior experience working with Board members, is a strong plus.
