JDG completes search for the Department of Energy’s Director of Research, Office of Oil and Natural Gas

JDG and DOE are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Alan Cohen as the new Director of Research within the Office of Oil and Natural Gas.  He is an internationally-recognized geophysicist with more than 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.  He has had direct responsibility for budgets up to $50M with the opportunity to impact investment decisions over $1B.  Dr. Cohen is an expert in oil and gas R&D, and exploration and production operations in onshore, shallow-water and deepwater provinces in the U.S. and internationally.  Over the past several years, he has led efforts as the CTO at two technology companies to develop and integrate leading-edge geoscience, engineering and computer science technologies to improve exploring, drilling, fracturing and producing from shale gas and shale oil reservoirs.  Dr. Cohen received his Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from Harvard University.
