JDG completes Division Director, State Advocacy search for AVMA
JDG and the American Veterinary Medical Association are pleased to announce the selection of Angela Shuman as AVMA’s new Division Director of State Advocacy.
Angela is a seasoned advocacy and public affairs leader with over 20 years of experience driving state and federal legislative and regulatory strategies within professional associations. Her background spans complex healthcare and human services issues. She brings a strong understanding of federated association models and how to engage diverse stakeholders across national, state, and local levels. Angela is deeply motivated by mission-driven work and is drawn to the AVMA because of the natural connection between her advocacy experience and the organization’s focus on animal health. She excels at building grassroots efforts, cultivating long-term policy relationships, and aligning state-level goals with broader national agendas, especially in environments where direct reporting relationships don’t exist, but coordination and unity are essential. She earned her MPA from Georgia Southern University.
