UVA invites applications from individuals with a distinguished record of public service and leadership related to Congressional and/or state legislative politics. Candidates will teach multiple courses to undergraduates and graduate students focused on leadership, the legislative process, public policy issues, or related topics; Actively engage and lead initiatives to improve public understanding and the quality of public policy on critical issues affecting the U.S. Congress or other legislative bodies; and Leverage professional networks to create opportunities for student engagement with policymakers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders. Keys to success in this role include:

• Strong professional experience or training in legislative affairs, policy analysis, implementation, assessment, and/or advocacy.
• Related experience in leading training, public speaking engagements, teaching, management, or other educational activities.
• Excellent communication skills, high energy, and a mindset as a self-starter with an innovative approach to designing and teaching courses that inspire and prepare students to become future leaders.
