NOAA retains JDG to conduct the search for its Director, Global Ocean Monitoring & Observing Program

JDG Associates, Executive Search Consultants, has been retained by the NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research to assist in identifying its Director, Global Ocean Monitoring & Observing Program (GOMO). The GOMO Program supports research that studies global ocean conditions and variables such as ocean temperature, currents, waves, sea level, salinity, and carbon and oxygen. These observations serve as a foundation for the information our nation needs to reduce risks for its people, businesses, and assets. The Director will be the spokesperson on providing a better understanding of how the global ocean observation systems can best address key societal challenges and needs captured in NOAA’s strategic plan. The GOMO Director will also play a significant role guiding the development of the global ocean observing systems internationally.

Keys to success in this role includes experience:

  • Leading teams that develop forecasting, oceanographic, eco system, satellite or climatological products and services.
  • Leading and collaborating with national and international environmental partners to build and sustain global oceanographic and marine meteorological observing systems.
  • Providing executive oversight and coordination of multi-disciplinary scientific research programs with a special emphasis on global ocean conditions and ocean resources.
