JDG to commence General Counsel search for the FRTIB
JDG Associates, executive search consultants, has been retained by the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) to identify its General Counsel. The FRTIB is an independent agency with a single mission: to administer the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) solely in the interest of its participants and beneficiaries. The TSP, which manages over $600 billion for over 6 million participants, is widely considered to be one of the best retirement plans in the world and is a model for defined contribution plans.
The General Counsel acts as the chief legal officer for the FRTIB, providing advice to the Executive Director, Board Members, and staff regarding their legal duties and responsibilities under the Federal Employees’ Retirement System Act of 1986 (FERSA) and other applicable laws. S/he will also provide executive leadership and expertise in managing the Office of General Counsel consisting of 18 staff. As such, s/he will direct all program activity of the office and is held accountable for the success of multiple programs, including the Agency’s Compliance, Ethics and Privacy programs. Further, the General Counsel participates in all Agency leadership activities, contributing to the achievement of key organizational goals and initiatives. S/he is a key member of the senior leadership team and is an important advisor to the Executive Director, the Board members, and all other senior staff.
