JDG Completes Search for Director of Scientific Programs for the National Marine Fisheries Service
JDG and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Richard Merrick as the new Director of Scientific Programs and Chief Science Advisor. As Chief of the Protected Species Branch and Supervisory Research Oceanographer at Woods Hole, Dr. Merrick has been responsible for the direction of 100 staff, the development of major research programs, and overseeing development of funding proposals, budget, and work plans. Dr. Merrick has a Ph.D. in Fisheries from the University of Washington in Seattle.
