JDG commences search for the FRTIB’s Director of External Affairs

JDG Associates, executive search consultants, has been retained by the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) to assist in finding its Director of External Affairs. The FRTIB is an independent federal agency responsible for administering the federal government’s Thrift Savings Plan, a participant-directed retirement savings and investment plan for 7M federal employees and members of the uniformed services with over $870B in assets and widely considered to be one of the best-defined contribution plans in the world. The Director of External Affairs, principal advisor to the Executive Director and the FRTIB Board, is responsible for leading all Agency activities as they relate to Congress, the media, other federal agencies, and the Employee Thrift Advisory Council.

Keys to success in this role includes experience:

  • Substantial experience with U.S. federal legislative processes, procedures, and advocating legislation garnered by working for Congress or with organizations that advocate for legislation.
  • Experience in distilling complex ideas and expressing them clearly, both verbally and in writing, to a wide variety of high-level audiences.
