JDG commences search for AVMA’s Division Director, State Advocacy

JDG Associates, Executive Search Consultants, has been retained by the American Veterinary Medical Association (www.avma.org) to identify their Division Director, State Advocacy. Founded in 1863, AVMA is a not-for-profit Association with approximately 105,000 members, representing veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and the uniformed services. Reporting to the Chief Advocacy Officer, this position is responsible for providing vision, leadership, strategic planning, development, implementation, and ongoing project management for activities and programs in furtherance of AVMA’s objectives for state-level advocacy.

Critical to success will be:

• 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in governmental affairs (state-level experience preferred); experience in non-profit sector a plus.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and get results in a dynamic environment. 
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (written & verbal), and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
